Potyra Tupinambá

Potyra Tupinambá is of the Tupinambá people of southern Bahia. She is a lawyer, communicator, teacher, human rights defender, and an activist for the rights of indigenous women. Potyra took part in pioneering ethno-media and digital inclusion initiatives for indigenous peoples through her work with the Índios Online network. She worked as a lawyer in the repossession of indigenous lands. Potyra is the executive manager of Thydewá, an organization for the defense of indigenous rights. She also is involved in the management of the For Indigenous Women [Pelas Mulheres Indígenas] network, which offers legal and psychological support to indigenous women.
