Pagu Fulni-ô

Pagu Fulni-ô was born in São Paulo. She’s a Guarani and Fulni-ô indigenous woman. Born into a family of Northeastern migrants, Pagu grew up under the strong influence of her grandmother. Following romantic disillusions, lost job opportunities and discrimination at the university for her being indigenous, Pagu conducted a deep investigation to learn about her ancestors, and she unearthed stories and discovered herself as Fulni-ô. She was the first indigenous woman to teach a law class at the prestigious São Francisco Law School of the University of São Paulo (USP). Pagu decided to read law to help with the demarcation of her people’s land. She was interviewed by the Museum of the Person in 2019.
